Pasta Restaurants in Glasgow

Pasta is always a firm favourite within my family. It is always the ' go to ' dish whenever it comes to dinner or are stuck on what to have. In this blog, I will be comparing two recent experiences at restaurants; one being a family favourite and the other , somewhere new.

Te Seba, Pasta+Prosecco

Te Seba is a hidden gem located on Great Western Road in Kelvinbridge. It is a small family run Italian selling fresh pasta and Prosecco. The menu offers 5 fettuccine dishes , 6 pappardelle and 2 options for sweets. The drink menu focuses on a range of Prosecco and Bellinis; soft drinks also available. Inside , the interior gave a very welcoming atmosphere; paired with the friendly staff made it a good start to the night.

Before going to restaurant I did have a wee look at their google reviews and having 144 reviews averaging with 4.9 stars ; it was safe to say that my standards were set high.

What did I order...As described on the menu

  • Fetuccine; garlic, chilli, evoo, cherry tomatoes / can be vegan but we chose to add prawns
  • Bread and oil
  • and of course.. shared a bottle of Prosecco

The value for money at this restaurant was fairly decent. We found the individual Bellini cocktails to be pricier in comparison to the price of a bottle; and so opted for this option. The pasta itself is delicious and you could tell from the look and taste that it was fresh.

VERDICT: Good night out with a friend, nearby to local bars; the parlour/ Hillhead Bookclub

Sugo

Sugo is an Italian restaurant located in central Glasgow, Mitchell Lane. It is the sister restaurant of the popular pizza restaurant, Paesano. Sugo is known for cheap prices , fast service and authentic food. The restaurant picks a city/town in Italy and creates a dish that represents what they are known for. There is a strong sense of authenticity; choosing flavours and ingredients only used in the selected regions the pasta is from. The areas the dishes are based on include ; Tuscany, Lazio. Emilia Romagna, Sicily, Puglia, Abruzzo, Campania, Calabria and Umbria. The menu consists of approximately 10 pasta dishes and various side dishes.

What did I order...As described on the menu

  • 1- Tagliarini with olive oil, garlic, chilli & pangratto (Campania)
  • 5- Pappardelle with slow cooked beef rag (Tuscany)

Sugo is a family favourite within my household. Its suitable for large groups, small groups and is very easy to get a table due to the fast service and size of the restaurant.

VERDICT: Sugo is a great option for a last minute plan ; walk-ins are easy to get and the food is high quality yet very cheap.
