The first restaurant to be reviewed is Ting Thai Caravan. The restaurant is a fairly new addition to Glasgow which opened in August 2021. The restaurant is very central located on West Nile Street. Ting Thai Caravan is a great choice for those looking for great value authentic Thai street food. Main courses range from £6-8 with small dishes ranging from £1.60- £3. The restaurant have a selection of Thai beers , Scottish craft beers , wine and soft drinks.

What did I Order? as described on the menu ...

  • NUA YAM TALAY- grilled rump steak sliced with Thai spiced talay, nam pla,  lime, coriander, chilli, palm sugar, grilled king prawns
  • KHAO MUN GAI TOD- shallow fried battered chicken w/ ginger, chilli, grated coconut, cucumber & shallot ajard, two brothers sauce and jasmine rice
  • YAM SAM KROB- crispy prawn , cap moo and squid with chilli & lime
  • PENG GAI KAO PRIK- " Bangkok" spicy chicken wings
  • MEE GRATIAM- Garlic noodles with oyster sauce

The dishes often come in small bowls or cardboard boxes giving a street food vibe which matched the interior of the wall art, bench style tables and high stool seating. This layout meant it can cater for groups of all sizes. The only downside was the lighting of the restaurant is quite dark in certain areas but it did seem to match the atmosphere. The dishes had a great variety of flavours and spices and were of high quality. Not only this, but the food arrived at the table very quickly within 10 minutes by the friendly staff.

VERDICT- Ting Thai Caravan is a great value for money and one of few Thai street food style restaurants in Glasgow.  The restaurant can accommodate take aways, small and large group bookings
